40 essays in around 100 words #2

The kingdom of God is like a garden. The gardener learns what the soil needs for plants to grow. She places the seeds in the dirt, burying them in darkness, hoping that they will sprout to new life. She waters them everyday, sometimes waiting weeks for signs of life. She rejoices when the little sprouts of green poke out of the dark earth. She will still have to wait weeks for flowers that will turn to produce. She faithfully waters and watches and waits, beholding the mystery that is something growing from a tiny seed buried in darkness.

The Kingdom of God is like a garden, where only the gardener truly knows how to care for it well.

40 essays in around 100 words #1

In the world of God, eternity, a profound “not ending” is the end of the story. In his letter to the Romans, Paul wrote that Abraham was as good as dead, but there was hope and faith in his heart. From this faith came 2 babies–the symbols of new life. From these lives emerged an eternal story of people chosen and loved by God. Jesus’ death also seemed like an ending, but Him coming back from the dead seals the promise that everlasting life is the end of the story–an end that is not really an end at all.

Ok, maybe essays is a little generous. My ambition this lenten season is to publish 40 musings that are generally no longer than 100 words. I promise these will be actually written by me, not by a robot. Enjoy!
